Dr. Jame Schaefer is Associate Professor of Systematic Theology and Ethics at Marquette University, Milwaukee, Wisconsin where she relates theology to the natural sciences, technology and healthcare, directs the Interdisciplinary Minor in Environmental Ethics, and advises Students for an Environmentally Active Campus. Among her numerous publications are Theological Foundations for Environmental Ethics: Reconstructing Patristic and Medieval Concepts (Georgetown University Press, 2009, Confronting the Climate Crisis: Catholic Theological Perspectives (Marquette University Press, 2011), Environmental Justice and Climate Change: Assessing Pope Benedict XVI’s Ecological Vision for the Catholic Church in the United States (Routledge, 2013), and the inaugural entry on “Animals” in the New Catholic Encyclopedia (2013). Prior to entering academia, she served as a leader of local and regional environmental advocacy groups, a consultant to the Archdiocese of Milwaukee on energy and environmental issues, and an appointee to policy advisory positions by county, state, and federal governments.
