Air Patterns on Earth 3D
Figure 9: 3D view of global air patterns. This depicts the major patterns of airflow on earth and how they distribute heat from the equator to the poles. The red arrows depict warm air near the surface of the earth (trade winds), and the blue arrows depict cooler air currents that are higher in altitude. The light blue tubes of air which include both red and blue arrows together are called Hadley cells.[fn][[nid:175]][/fn]
