Poem to Mother Earth

By: Mariela Burlando

Man’s dwelling land,

Of time,

Solid mass,

Shelter of plants and animals.

Many have opened your doors,

To bring to light

The treasures you have hidden

Since your youth.

Treasures of years,

Of immense secrets,

Of good and bad

And countless stories.

Many beings have used you,

They have sullied your honor,

They have misused you,

Without any shame.

Forgive those who do not see you

With the eyes of the soul,

Blessing them with your colors,

Your wonders and your magnificent smells

I want to pay homage to you,

To the goodness of your existence,

Oh! Mother earth of my loves,

Make us your humble admirers.
